Home Style Foods, LLC was first formed as The Shumake Sausage Company in the mid-1990s by then Georgia State Senator Hildred Shumake. Initially, the products were sold to smaller independent grocers in the Southeastern United States; but, under his direction and owernership, The Shumake Sausage Company introduced the smoked pork sausage products (mild and Hot) to the Southeastern Regional Kroger Division in 1995. This started the distribution of the product into regional and national chains.

Upon the death of Hildred Shumake, Len Parks (the great-grandson of Mr. Walter L. Parks who is featured on the label of the products) acquired the company and re-named it Home Style Foods in 2003.

Home Style Foods is now an established brand in the Southeast, and has expanded into the Mid-Atlantic, and Mid-Western Regions of the United States.
